Capitalising on Social Media

Today, social media cannot be separated from public relations. PR professionals need to acquire social and digital PR skills to engage and influence their online audiences. They need to learn to monitor trending news, social listening, optimise content for search engines and social sharing, manage online communities, handle crises, and track and measure social PR efforts.

This workshop equips you with a good understanding of digital and social media, and with the basic skills needed to create impactful content for these channels.

About the Trainer
Philip Sim is a communications practitioner with over 20 years of experience. He is the current Acting Director, Social Media at National Trade Union Congress (NTUC). There, he leads the Social Media Team in communications through unbranded channels and networks of influencers using impactful content, develops and maintains 360 sensing and sentiment analysis, and builds communities and networks of influencers for both sensing and content distribution.

Philip has served in various positions in the public sector throughout his career. He has led teams to plan and coordinate whole-of-government communications as the Deputy Director of Public Communications (2009-2011), Emergency Preparedness (2011-2013) and Planning & Operations (2016-2017) at Ministry of Communications and Information. His other roles include Deputy Director, Corporate Communications at Ministry of Health, as well as Senior Lecturer in the School of Management and Communications at Republic Polytechnic.

Outside work, Philip takes an active interest in engaging with the local community at the grassroots level with an aim to build organic groups and teams to help accelerate community-based causes.
