Writing an Impactful Speech (2nd Run)

Speeches are potentially one of the most powerful communication tools. However, writing a speech for your boss always appears to be a daunting task. What do I want them to say? What style suits them? What should be their message to their audience? So many questions bother you before you start writing that speech.

Capturing a voice that is not your own certainly has its challenges, but it is indeed rewarding listening to an impactful speech that you have written, and knowing that it resonates with an engaged audience.

This course will cover the following:

  • Plan for executive speeches
  • Conduct audience research
  • Adopt the correct writing process
  • Select the right theme and messages
  • Make the speeches more interesting
  • Deliver with impact and connect with the audience

About the Trainer

Bhavani is a communications veteran with over 35 years of experience. She is currently the Managing Director of International PR Training Pte Ltd. She is an Associate Director, Crisis Communications, Kenyon International Emergency Services.
She is also an associate trainer with Singapore Business Federation, Civil Service College, and the Marketing Institute of Singapore. She lectures part-time in crisis communications at the National University of Singapore.

Bhavani was the Director of Public Communications from 2008 to July 2011, and Director of Corporate Communications and the Press Secretary to the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts from 2004 to 2008. She also served as Head of Public Affairs with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Head Media Relations Branch in the Ministry of Defence.

She was President of the Institute of Public Relations, Singapore for seven years, and now serves as Advisor to the IPRS Accreditation Board. 

Bhavani holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the National University of Singapore, a Master of Arts in Mass Communications from the Oklahoma City University, USA and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.
